NOSi Highlights Artificial Intelligence at the Conference Marking ARAP’s 18th Anniversary

At the invitation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARAP), and as part of the celebrations marking its 18th anniversary, NOSi was represented by its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Carlos Tavares Pina, at the conference entitled “Challenges and New Responsibilities of Regulation in Public Procurement”, held on Friday, May 8, in the city of Praia.

As one of the event’s speakers, Carlos Tavares Pina delivered a presentation on the topic “A New Era in Cape Verdean Public Procurement Supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI)”. During his presentation, he highlighted the importance of operationalising the electronic public procurement platform within the National Public Procurement System during its implementation and fine-tuning phase, as well as the urgent need for economic operators supplying goods and services to the State to incorporate AI into their internal processes to support the automatic identification of relevant tenders, the analysis of tender documentation, and even the preparation and review of proposals. This would make the market more competitive by increasing both the number and quality of bids, thereby benefiting not only fair competition and equal opportunities for MSMEs, but also improving regulatory processes and the effectiveness of public procurement.

The conference provided an important opportunity for reflection and the exchange of knowledge and experiences, reinforcing ARAP’s role in promoting best practices in public procurement and strengthening the National Public Procurement System.

The event was chaired by the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Minister of the Digital Economy, Olavo Correia, and featured opening remarks by the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of ARAP, Samira Duarte.
