Rabo Curto and Mão para Trás, two villages in the Ribeira Grande municipality of Santo Antão, have long faced significant challenges due to their remote location and lack of mobile network coverage. As of Monday, 16 March, both communities are now connected to the internet through the inauguration of a Digital Plaza in each village.
This initiative, developed through a partnership between NOSi and the local municipal authority, reinforces the ongoing commitment to digital inclusion and the balanced development of all communities within the municipality.
With the launch of the Digital Plazas, Rabo Curto and Mão para Trás are now digitally connected to the world, creating new opportunities for access to information, knowledge, and digital services, with positive impacts on the social and economic development of the local population.
The unveiling ceremony of the commemorative plaque was presided over by the Mayor of Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão, Mr Armindo Luz, and the Executive Director of NOSi, Mr Lumumba Barbosa.
