NOSi and Huawei sign Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Transition

Energy costs are a major challenge for the management and operation of data centers. It is becoming increasingly necessary to invest in energy efficiency and, especially, in renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic. Cabo Verde can benefit from its geographical position, giving it the natural potential to produce solar energy to better perform in the ICT market.

It is against this background that NOSi-EPE and the Chinese multinational Huawei Technologies Co., LTD, have signed this Thursday, August 19th, in the city of Praia, a Memorandum of Understanding, in the domain of Energy Transition.

By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, by Huawei Cabo Verde's representative Steven Chang and NOSi's CEO Carlos Tavares Pina, both parties wish to establish a general framework of agreement for the energy transition, particularly solar solutions for Cabo Verde's Data Centers, to progressively mitigate investments in power generation, and reduce the electric power bill by 30% to 40%.

On the behalf of Huawei, the General Director for the West Africa region, Mr. Li Zhe, and the president for the North Africa region for the "Digital Power" business area, Mr. Gong Yuqing, were also present at the event. From NOSi, the Executive Director, Lumumba Barbosa.
