NOSi and Ashinaga Brasil sign Memorandum of Understanding

NOSi and Ashinaga Brasil signed this Wednesday, May 3, in Praia, a Memorandum of Understanding within the internship domain. Rubricated by NOSi's CEO, Carlos Pina Tavares, and Ashinaga Brasil's Vice-President, Andrew Castro, this memorandum aims to ease the collaboration between the two entities, concerning both organizations' activities.

Within the program, upon graduation, Ashinaga fellows undertake a 6-8 week internship in a company or organization in a sub-Saharan African country. The objective is to enable them to broaden their professional experiences, improve their skills both practically and globally, as well as expand their network. Therefore, NOSi will now host one Ashinaga scholarship intern at the NOSiAkademia each year.

Ashinaga is one of Japan's largest nonprofit organizations whose primary mission is to increase youth access to education. In 2011, as a response to global challenges, the organization launched the Ashinaga Africa Initiative, a scholarship program targeting young people in sub-Saharan Africa. The program offers full scholarships to students with great academic potential so that they have the opportunity to enter the best universities around the world and can, in the future, promote positive social impacts in their home countries.

Since its inception, the Initiative has supported more than 200 fellows from 48 African countries.
