Health and Social Security

The Cape Verde State has chose as one of the essential axes of its intervention the improvement health care rendering, by enhancing, among others, the use of new technology, in order to increase the degree of citizen satisfaction.

Within this framework, the information system for health (SIS) is currently being implemented – whole computer modules of support to hospital management that allow monitoring the condition of the population and to improve the working of sector institutions. The online appointments in central hospital through health centres are already possible. With this, the waiting time and the queues in hospitals have been reduced.

 

The computerization of health services, the creation of interactive and informative channels, like Health Portal, the implementation of a sanitary information system and the implementation of a telemedicine programme for reproductive health, are some of the goals to be reached in short and long term.

 

The main goal is to create a more competent health system, with a greater quality in rendering of services, more accessible and close to the population, by promoting social equity.

 

The improvement of Social Security System is also a key goal of Cape Verde’s State. With the implementation of the integrated system of Social welfare, SIPS, the Government intends to improve the management of Social Welfare and the Management System of Social Pension, by putting them in a single technological Platform and joining them with the system of Registry Division, of pharmacies, of human resources, etc.
